San Francisco Clinical Psychologist Specializing in Anxiety & Relationship Therapy
Hello! I'm Dr. Alexandria Leedy, and for the past 20 years, I've been privileged to work as a licensed clinical psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area. My passion is helping working professionals move from feeling overwhelmed to experiencing true clarity, overcoming anxiety, transforming their relationships, and healing trauma to create the inspired life they envision.
Finding the right Psychologist in San Francisco
You've tried everything you can think of. Maybe you've read self-help books, talked to friends, or even tried therapy before, but you're still struggling with anxiety that won't quit, relationships that feel stuck, or trauma that keeps affecting your daily life. You might feel like you're running out of options, or worse, that maybe this is just how life is supposed to be. The truth is, finding the right help can feel overwhelming, especially when you're already exhausted from trying to manage it all.
You deserve more than just getting by. You deserve to feel genuinely better—not just temporarily, but in a way that lasts.
Why I Do This Work
I became a psychologist because I believe deeply in people's ability to heal and change. I've seen firsthand how the right support and proven techniques can transform someone's life, even when they've felt stuck for years. There's something powerful that happens when you finally feel truly understood by someone who knows exactly how to help.
I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by all the therapy options out there, wondering if someone really understands what you're going through. That's why I focus specifically on anxiety, relationship challenges, and trauma—areas where I've seen people make remarkable progress when they have the right guidance.
How I Can Help
When Anxiety Takes Over I understand how anxiety can make you feel like you're living in a constant state of "what if." Whether you're lying awake at night with racing thoughts, avoiding places that once brought you joy, or feeling like your anxiety is making decisions for you, I get it. Together, we'll work to understand what's driving your anxiety and develop practical tools to help you feel more like yourself again. I use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and exposure techniques, but we'll always move at a pace that feels safe for you.
When Relationships Feel Impossible I know how painful it can be when the people closest to you feel the furthest away. Whether you're stuck in the same arguments with your partner, feeling lonely even when you're together, or struggling to trust and open up, these experiences can leave you wondering if real connection is even possible. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy—a research-backed approach that helps couples and individuals understand the deeper patterns that keep them stuck and learn how to create real connection.
When Trauma Won't Let Go If you've been through something difficult, you might feel like it's changed who you are at your core. Maybe you're on edge all the time, reliving painful memories, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. I want you to know that healing is possible, even when it feels impossible right now. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is particularly effective for trauma and painful memories. It's a way of helping your brain process difficult experiences so they don't feel so overwhelming anymore.
My Training and Experience
I believe in using treatments that have been proven to work, because you deserve care that will actually help. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for both individuals and couples through the International Centre for Excellence in EFT. I'm trained in EMDR through the EMDR Institute, and I have specialized training in OCD and PTSD treatment through The Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety.
But beyond the credentials, what I bring to our work together is a deep understanding that healing happens in relationship. My goal isn't just to provide you with techniques—it's to help you feel understood, supported, and hopeful about what's possible for your life.
What You Can Expect
Our work together will be collaborative. I won't just tell you what to do—we'll figure out together what makes sense for your life. I believe healing happens when you feel genuinely understood and supported, not judged or rushed.
My goal isn't just to help you feel better temporarily. It's to help you develop the tools and understanding you need to create lasting change in your life, so you can stop just surviving and start truly living.
